Job Description

The Books Content Experience team seeks a highly motivated and curious Application Engineer to support the features developed or enhanced through Gen AI tools and new age technologies. This role focuses on maintaining applications that deliver specialised reading features across multiple platforms, including iOS, Android, and eReader devices. Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

1. Technically lead and execute operational best practices and provide technical direction to team.
2. Work closely with Applied Scientists to understand the features and models and to support them with infrastructure/data/configuration/scripting requirements.
3. Investigate and resolve issues pertaining to reading features, content delivery, and infrastructure components.
4. Conduct comprehensive monitoring of production systems to ensure optimal health of applications and availability for customers.
5. Execute system migrations and upgrades to maintain current software dependencies.
6. Adapt to new age tools and technologies, including Generative AI, to enhance operational efficiency.
7. Analyze application code and implement necessary fixes to address support-related issues.
8. Create and maintain automation tools and scripts to facilitate efficient operations and application maintenance.
9. Conduct thorough debugging and provide technical solutions through code modifications, configuration changes, and performance optimization.
10. Engage in cross-functional team collaboration with stakeholders in Seattle or Madrid to effectively manage support issues and contribute to knowledge base development.
11. Regular status reporting of applications and tasks.

Key job responsibilities

Knowledge on Java, Python scripting languages.

Must be able to prioritize, follow-through with detail-orientation independently.

Good verbal and written communication skills- 5+ years of software development, or 5+ years of technical support experience
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Experience in Unix
- Experience scripting in modern program languages
- Experience in agile/scrum or related collaborative workflow
- B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
- Knowledge of Java based technologies
- Understanding of XML/SOAP, web services, workflow modeling, web application development
- Ability to write intermediate level database queries
