We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead the Privacy Incident Response and Prevention team. This team will own incident response including deletion of customer data associated with the incident and deletion verification. You will also be responsible for systems that are designed to prevent violations.

Key job responsibilities
You will set goals, define, develop and realize the roadmap, identify resource requirements and hire against it, develop the careers of engineers, deliver high-quality software that exceeds customer expectations, write docs to communicate vision, project status and operational reviews, and maintaining operational excellence of the system you own.

A day in the life
As a member of the leadership team, you will serve as the technical leader for service development and operations. You will collaborate with stakeholders across Alexa Devices and Alexa Cloud teams to define roadmaps, plan requirements, make prioritization trade-offs, and track dependencies. You will partner with principal engineers to brainstorm solutions, solve problems, and scale services. Your day also includes leading sprint planning and daily scrums, reviewing operational and ticket dashboards to prioritize customer issue resolutions, coaching and mentoring team members, participating in hiring, and authoring documents to communicate vision and project updates.

The Alexa Connected Devices team delivers low-latency, low-cost, highly reliable, and scalable connectivity between Alexa-enabled devices and the Alexa Cloud. We improve the speed and reliability of customer interactions with Alexa while simplifying the developer experience by abstracting connection management. Our services handle tens of billions of transactions daily. This is a highly visible role spanning inception, feature development, and operation of tier-1 Cloud Services. The ideal candidate is passionate about Alexa and the Cloud, and thrives delivering high-quality services in a hyper-growth environment.- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
