We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Vice President, we are looking for an experienced database lead who has worked in a critical application with large sized DB2(or any other RDBMS) Database(>=10TB). The role requires the candidate to understand the landscape of the application and the data including its topology across the Online Data store and the Data Warehousing counter parts. The challenges we strive to solve include scalability/performance related to dealing with very large data sets, multiple data sources and concurrent processing.

Operations Technology
Operations Technology develops and maintains systems in support of Morgan Stanley's global Operations , including (but not limited to) Book keeping, Stock Record, Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, Corporate Actions processing and other post-trade functions. Operations Technology is a global organization that is client-focused and functionally aligned. Our organization is built to support our clients functional, regional and business-facing requirements while delivering innovative technology and ensuring plant and processing stability. The Firm operates at scale with up to 60 million transactions processed on peak volume days and hundreds of billions of dollars of daily settlements with activities ongoing in multiple countries and currencies across the globe. There is a great breadth of financial products that our Operations plant handles across equity and fixed income, from cash products to complex derivatives and loans.
Data and Analytics Engineering
This is a Vice President position that develops and maintains data solutions that support business needs around data. The person should also be able to independently analyse the data in depth and derive meaningful functional insights and suggestions for the users and also to optimize the application for better efficiency.

What you’ll do in the role:
• An experienced database lead who has worked in a critical application with large sized DB2(or any other RDBMS) Database(>=10TB) and is able to effectively translate business queries and functional asks into technical requirements and eventually be able to design and implement an efficient, fault tolerant, resilient solution for the same.
• To understand the landscape of the application and the data including its topology across the Online Data store and the Data Warehousing counter parts. The challenges we strive to solve include scalability/performance related to dealing with very large data sets and multiple data sources.
• We are a global team with members in New York, Montreal and Bangalore. The role involves collaborating with global team members and provides a unique opportunity to network with a diverse group of people.
• The candidate who fills this role of a Database lead in our team will be involved in building and creating solutions from the requirements stage through deployment.
• A successful candidate is self-motivated, innovative, thinks outside the box, has excellent communication skills and can work with clients and stakeholders from both the business and technology with ease.
• The candidate should also be able to guide and mentor other junior and senior team members in the team.
• The candidate should be able to effectively engage with multiple upstream and downstream partners/stakeholders for their libra data requirements/issues and help them with the optimal solutions as need.
What you’ll bring to the role:
This requirement of a hands on strong database lead for a critical application in Operations Technology called Libra. Libra is a real time book keeping functionality that consumes trades/journals from various upstream Post Trade systems and maintains the Positions and Balances along with the Journals in a DB2 UDB Database.
Required Skills:
• At least 10+ years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role with Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
• Expertise in DB2 UDB(or any other RDBMS like DB2 zOS/Oracle/Sql Server) with writing complex data retrieval queries and stored procs
• Proficient in Linux Shell Scripting
• Working level Experience with Basic Python programming
• Good knowledge of Autosys or any such scheduling tool
• Knowledge and good understanding of object oriented programming
• Detail oriented, ability to turn deliverables around quickly with high degree of accuracy
• Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret business requirements and produce functional and technical design documents
• Good time management skills – ability to prioritize and multi-task, handling multiple efforts at once
• Strong desire to learn and understand the domain.

• Experience in Snow Flake
• Experience with Informatica
• Experience in a financial services/banking industry
• Exposure to various design patterns and knowledge about best practices such as resiliency, fault tolerance, idempotency, etc.
