Parametric is part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the asset management division of Morgan Stanley. We partner with advisors, institutions, and consultants to build portfolios focused on what's important to them and their clients. This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

ABOUT TEAM

The Digital team at Parametric:

We are responsible for the development of Parametric's client and partner web portals which support and enhance our client experience.
We are building a robust API platform to support client and partner integration and straight-through-processing of client servicing requests.
We have an extensive product roadmap to deliver innovative investment tools, client servicing and rich portfolio/account level reporting through an online experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is the first Java Developer position in the Digital Team. As the first Java Developer in the team, you will collaborate with another Senior Java Developer who is located in Minneapolis to take over the development and support of the Institutional Client Portal. We are looking for individuals that have a strong curiosity and passion for learning new things, while continuously challenging oneself to build things better and more scalable.

The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with the Technical Lead and collaborate with Stakeholders who are located in Seattle. You will be responsible for design, development, and integration of various new and existing technology solutions that supports all aspects of our client experience: account servicing, account reporting and more.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand and document requirements.
Provide flexible solutions to complex business problems using our technology practices.
Design and develop business tier components.
Design and develop relational database models (Azure SQL)
Design and develop interactive web-based user interfaces.
Design and develop integration solutions with 3rd party data providers and systems.
Create unit/integration/functional tests.
Contribute to evolution of our architecture to make it more flexible and easier to use.
Follow our development process and guidelines.
Conduct code reviews of other developers.
Follow technology trends/tools and recommend improvements to our technology when appropriate.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

SKILL SET

Required Experience: 7+ years in Java J2EE

Skill set: Java/Java 2EE, JavaScript, Spring, Hibernate and SQL

PRIMARY SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in computer science/computer engineering required.
7+ years of experience building highly interactive web-based user interfaces using Spring, Spring Boot, Java Script
7+ years of experience in Java J2EE to implement object and service-oriented architecture.
6+ years of experience in web and REST API development
3+ years of experience with Azure PaaS services
Experience with Azure SQL
OIDC and OAuth2 experience for implementing web Authentication and Authorization (Spring Security)
Experienced with git source control and Gitflow fundamentals.
Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines (Bamboo Build, Bitbucket)
Experience with event-based and micro-service style architecture (Restful services/Open API)
Effective communication skills with business users and other developers and testers
Agile development practice such as Kanban or Scrum and tracking with Jira.

Good to Have Skills

Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB preferred) database platforms.
Experience with .NET (C#) and Angular
Experience with Azure DevOps preferred.
Experience with Authorization and Authentication Servers (such as Okta)
Experienced with contributing to automated test suites with unit (Junit), integration and web tests.
Financial services and technology experience is plus.
Demonstrated experience mentoring developers within a team on agile development and clean coding practices.
Demonstrated experience as technology thought leader to champion ideas within a team.
