We’re seeking a skilled and motivated candidate to join our Mainframe Computing . zEnterprise Storage & Tape Team as a Vice President.

Division

Enterprise Technology & Services (ETS) delivers shared technology services for Morgan Stanley supporting all business applications and end users. ETS provides capabilities for all stages of Morgan Stanley’s software development lifecycle, enabling productive coding, functional and integration testing, application releases, and ongoing monitoring and support for over 3,000 production applications. ETS also delivers all workplace technologies (desktop, mobile, voice, video, productivity, intranet/internet) in integrated configurations that boost the personal productivity of employees. Application and end user functions are delivered on a scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure composed of seamlessly integrated datacenter, network, compute, cloud, storage, and database functions.

Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering

This is a Vice President position within our Mainframe Computing zEnterprise Storage & Tape Team. The successful candidate will monitor, support, maintain, and enhance all aspects of the z-platform storage & tape environment.

What you’ll do in the role:

The candidate will work closely within a team of storage, programming, performance, and hardware engineers, to provide technical support for all storage management related projects and activities. The candidate will act as a liaison with application and other infrastructure teams on all technical matters related to storage management.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Required:

At least 6+ years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
Experience managing Mainframe Storage / DASD & Tape in a multi-CEC, multi LPAR, multi SYSPLEX z-platform environment.
Strong working knowledge of z/OS internals, z/OS system software, IBM Utilities, JES, ISPF, JCL, DADSM, ICF Catalogs, VSAM, VSAM/RLS.
Strong experience with SMS(DFSMS), DFHSM, DFDSS
Knowledge of IBM DS8K and TS77 family hardware and Management Interface (MI).
Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
The ability to effectively interface with external disk and software vendors.
Weekend work and on-call coverage is required.

Desired:

Familiarity with IBM Allocation Optimizer, Ca-Allocate, Ca-Vantage(SAMS), FDR/ABR, zEDC Compression, Catalog Recovery Plus/Advanced Catalog Management(ACM)
Experience with disk replication software and technology from IBM (Global Mirror, HyperSWAP, Copy Services Manager (CSM) a plus)
Connect Direct (NDM), ftp
Familiarity with data migration and hardware refresh techniques.
Familiarity with site swap and disaster recovery testing and procedures.
Working knowledge of IDCAMS, SAS (MXG, Ca-MICS), TSO/E, REXX, IBM DS CLI, Perl, .NET, Python
Understanding of SMF record types as related to data statistics and response time components, RMF Reporting
Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
