About Global Supply Management
Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for helping AMEX maximize the purchasing power of over $8B of Third Party spend. We provide strategic consultation to the business and provide end to end procurement services. We maximize the purchasing power of the Company to drive the best value from our supplier base which then frees up investment capacity for the Blue Box. GSM together with our business partners manages the supplier strategy for the Company, identifying and on-boarding new suppliers, realizing significant cost saves and revenue generation relating to working with GCS and GMS to increase billings and merchant coverage and ensuring an optimal user experience for AMEX employees and suppliers.
Position Summary
This hybrid working role based at Gurgaon, India is expected to lead best in class sourcing and contracting process insights and experience in the pursuit of driving supply opportunities at competitive cost and high quality, ensuring their team realizes the optimum business value through the sourcing and contracting processes as guided by the American Express Policy for Third Party Management (AEMP10).
The role has oversight and responsibility of the Source to Contract team, responsible for supporting US Market including supporting Category Management. It is expected to coach and manage several Sourcing & Contracting Managers, working with various category managers to ensure projects remain on track and delivered to customer satisfaction.
This Position is expected to work with Colleagues to ensure consistent process, experience and contingencies are in place to deliver to commitments made to business partners and category management teams.
Responsibilities will at a high level, include:
1. Work with internal and external customers and understand how their needs can be met in conjunction with the strategic objectives of procurement, business unit management and the Blue Box.
2. Initiates and drives strategic sourcing and contracting activities across the Blue Box that have an impact on American Express’ revenue and profitability.
3. Ensure downstream processes (i.e. contracting, global sourcing, etc.) properly follow the framework of overall global category strategies.
4. Approve and sign contracts to the value as determined by American Express Third Party Management Policy.
5. Work with Risk Management Teams to review and get accessed SS&BE contracting actions in compliance to procedures, practices and Policies. Continually develop and improve controls.
6. Work with Sourcing & Contract Managers to prioritize strategies, estimate workload, identify resources to ensure successful delivery of desired results.
7. Acts as a key resource to Senior and Executive management and has primary Relationship Lead responsibility for Data Services and IT labor for Source to contract team in US.
8. Assesses, motivates, inspires, and provides guidance, tools, and opportunities to enable rapid development of procurement professionals
9. Proactively manage the talent pool and pipeline to attract, retain and develop team members.
10. Lead, develop and own relationships with key stakeholders.
11. As needed, engage relevant stakeholders in negotiation decisions involving legal, regulatory, contract standards, finance and as needed.
12. Serve as coordinative escalation contact (for contract delivery with respect to contracts owned by Business and Category Management) during contract negotiations.
13. Identify value add opportunities and drive savings opportunities that are or could be managed through the SS&BE team and work with colleagues to bring them to life or trial new ideas out
14. Identify and assess spend optimization opportunities.
15. Embodies the One Team mindset, understanding the teams’ capacity and capabilities to be ready to rally as and when needed to meet the teams’ commitments across the world
16. Maintaining and promoting the Blue Box Values by ensuring that work is completed to the highest professional, legal, and regulatory standards, and that the activities subject to review/procurement comply with the Company's stated business ethics
Required Skills

5. Direct experience in leading complex negotiations, including understanding trade-offs between strategic and financial drivers and contractual protections, demonstrating financial and business acumen
6. High degree of creativity to identify and assess key drivers of success, implications of alternatives and recommendations for execution
7. An innovator, who can operate autonomously and make complex decisions in ambiguous situations and under time pressure
8. Outstanding relationship and communication skills with ability to collaborate and influence across levels with internal and external partners (including senior executives in both sides) and across geographic markets
9. Strong ability to work in a fluid, fast-paced, and at times unstructured environment and maintain flexibility to meet the changing needs of the customer, business units, and American Express
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree (business management, supply chain management or finance is desirable).
MBA or equivalent will be added advantage.
10+ years of extensive, broad-based Sourcing & Contracting experience.
