The Analyst – Business Intelligence & Enablement is part of the American Express Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) Product Team. GMNS Product Teams supports card-issuing and merchant-acquiring business partners that transact on the American Express Global Network.

The mission of the Business Intelligence & Enablement team within GMNS Product is to enable data-driven decision-making by delivering real-time visibility, scalable reporting architecture, strong governance frameworks, and in-house automation-led process transformation through efficiency gains. The team also plays a key role in strengthening regulatory reporting controls, data integrity, and audit readiness across reporting assets.

This role is responsible for building robust managerial dashboards, developing analytical models, and driving in-house automation using Microsoft Power Platform solutions. In addition to enhancing operational transparency and business performance, the position ensures that reporting outputs align with internal control standards, regulatory expectations, and compliance requirements, reinforcing a strong risk and governance mindset across GMNS Product.

Responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Design, develop, and maintain real-time or scheduled refresh managerial dashboards using Power BI, delivering actionable insights to leadership and operational teams.
  • Develop scalable data models within Power BI leveraging data modelling best practices, star schema design, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Create advanced calculations and KPIs using DAX formulas, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and business alignment.
  • Utilize Power Query (M language) for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) to standardize and cleanse datasets from multiple sources.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, manipulate, reconcile, and validate data from enterprise databases and data warehouses, ensuring completeness and integrity of data used in management and regulatory reporting. (wherever applicable).
  • Support preparation, validation, and ongoing enhancement of reporting used for internal governance forums, audit reviews, and regulatory submissions where applicable.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into analytical & reporting solutions to meet evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Build automated workflows using Power Automate or scripts (such as Python, JavaScript, etc.) to eliminate manual reporting processes, reduce operational risk, and strengthen control environments.
  • Develop low-code/no-code applications using Power Apps to support process enablement, intake management, tracking solutions, and governance controls with appropriate access management and data protection standards.
  • Ensure data integrity, reconciliation, and audit readiness across all dashboards and automation workflows to support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Deliver executive-ready insights through storytelling with data, highlighting trends, risks, and performance drivers.
  • Maintain documentation for dashboards, datasets, data definitions, and automation processes to ensure sustainability and compliance.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to enhance reporting efficiency, automation coverage, and user adoption of BI tools.

Qualifications:

  • Overall experience of 3+ years, preferably within a Bank and/or financial institution. Card/payment industry experience is an added advantage.
  • Graduate / Post-Graduate in Business Management, Operations, Finance, Computer Applications, Information Systems, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:

o   Power BI (report development, publishing, workspace management)

o   Power Query (data transformation)

o   DAX formulas (advanced calculations and performance tuning)

o   Data modelling concepts and best practices

o   SQL querying and data validation

o   Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform including Power Apps and Power Automate.

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex datasets and convert them into business insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to senior stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and strong governance orientation.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, lean, and evolving environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and a customer-first mindset.
